  • Basiliani Hotel – The hotel is located in the archaelogical area of Sasso Caveoso. It faces the Gravina, a deep valley that has been included in the SIC (Site of Community Importance) because it is the natural habitat of endangered species. The rooms are set in ancient buildings overlooking prehistoric caves in the Archaelogical Park of Rupestrian Churches. In some rooms you can see clefts and grooves testifying the existence of an old system of rain water collection. Water flew into large bell-shaped cisterns. This system has been used by natives since the Neolithic age and has concurred to make Matera one of the oldest and best preserved examples of bio-architecture.
